Nebraska City Municipal Code Book, Chapter 33, Article VII, Division 1
Did you know that the City of Nebraska City has a list of approved species of trees for streets and parks?
No species other than those included in such list may be planted as street or park trees without prior approval of the city tree board.
Approved Tree List
Trees in the ROW adjacent to your property are considered street trees. The City will help remove any potentially hazardous large limbs/trees within that ROW. As a property owner, you have the responsibility of maintaining such trees, pruning to ensure there's enough room above the surface of the street/sidewalk (8' clearing) and removing dangerous limbs or dead branches.
Property owners are also responsible for maintaining trees or shrubs along the right-of-way so that they do not obstruct the view at any street intersection. Damage to personal property caused by ROW trees is the owner's responsibility.

Neighbor Issues
Having an issue with a neighbor? Start with a friendly conversation. Many neighborhood concerns can be resolved by simply discussing the issue and working together toward a solution.
If tree branches or other vegetation from a neighboring property extend onto your property, you may trim or cut them back to your property line. However, it is always best to talk with your neighbor first and bring the issue to their attention. This can help resolve the immediate concern and prevent the same issue from happening again.
