HELP WANTED:  

Public Property Maintenance Worker II:

The Nebraska City Street Department is accepting applications for a Public Property Maintenance Worker II position. Applicants should have some knowledge of heavy equipment operations, concrete work, tree trimming and general maintenance. Should be able to lift 100 lbs. and have a valid driver’s license (CDL a plus). Full time position with benefits. Police Officer:

The Nebraska City Police Department is accepting applications for two Police Officer positions. Nebraska Law Enforcement Certification is preferred, but not mandatory. (Lateral transfers may be offered to all current certified Nebraska Law Enforcement Officers & out of State certified Law Enforcement Officers able to meet all reciprocity requirements of enrollment to Nebraska’s Law Enforcement training. Pay for these two classifications of certified Officers will be equivalent to the officer’s current proof of pay, based on Nebraska City’s F.O.P current wage scale.) All non-certified applicants must meet the minimum standards of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center, be a U.S. Citizen, 21 years of age, possess a High School diploma, GED equivalent, have a valid driver’s license. No serious Traffic Violations, No serious Misdemeanor Convictions. No Felony Convictions, and must pass an extensive background investigation check. City Attorney:

The City of Nebraska City, home of Arbor Day and the famous AppleJack Festival, seeks to hire a qualified and talented individual to become the next City Attorney.  The City Attorney is a professional position responsible for conducting, coordinating, and monitoring legal matters on behalf of the City.  Under the supervision of the Mayor and City Administrator, the City Attorney provides complex professional legal services to the Mayor, City Council, City Administrator, Staff, Boards and Commissions.  Qualifications include a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school, be a member in good standing of the Nebraska State Bar Association, admitted by the State Supreme Court to practice law in the State of Nebraska, and be able to regularly attend court and council meetings.  Three (3) years of experience as a municipal law attorney preferred.  Must be able to report to work from residence within thirty (30) minutes from the time of notification.  This is a full-time exempt position with an excellent benefit package.  Annual salary is on an 8-step pay plan, ranging from $72,180 to $96,562.  The Application and Job Description can be accessed through the links provided on this page or by contacting City Hall; please review the job description prior to applying for the position.  To apply, send a cover letter, resume, and complete application to Lou Leone, City Administrator, labeled “City Attorney Search”, 1409 Central Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410, or electronically to lleone@nebraskacity.com.  EOE.  Review of applications will begin December 27, 2021.  Position open until filled.  


Golf Course Pro Shop seasonal hires:

The City of Nebraska City is looking for seasonal employees to work at its Wildwood Golf Pro Shop. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older, strongly motivated, energetic, friendly, and have a positive customer service attitude. Duties may include but are not limited to: serving alcohol, customer service, reserving tee times and running a computer, cleaning, and basic food prep.  Nights, holidays and weekends are expected. Start March 1st through November 2022

We have openings for Assistant Managers, Full-Time Lifeguards, Substitute Lifeguards and Concession Stand workers. Parks Department seasonal hires:

The City of Nebraska City is looking for seasonal employees to work as Parks laborers in the City’s Park system. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, strongly motivated, energetic, friendly and have a positive customer service attitude. This position may include some weekend hours.

Duties will include, but not limited to mowing, weed trimming, painting, ball field preparation and basic upkeep of the City’s Park facilities. For additional information, please contact Raymond Doiel, Parks Superintendent at 402-873-8138. Position starting date will be on or around March 1 and extend through October, 2022.
