5th Corso Improvements Projects

The City of Nebraska City is pleased to inform you that construction will soon begin on the 2025 5th Corso Improvements Project – Community Development Project No. 25-PWI-014.

The project area includes 5th Corso from 11th Street to 19th Street. The improvements are intended to extend the useful life of the roadway, improve drainage and accessibility, and address deteriorated pavement and concrete infrastructure.

The project will generally include:

  • Milling and asphalt overlay of the existing roadway
  • Concrete pavement patching
  • Curb and gutter improvements
  • Selected sidewalk improvements
  • Installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps
  • Driveway improvements within the right-of-way
  • Reconstruction of portions of the storm sewer system
  • Final grading and seeding

Construction activities will result in temporary impacts to traffic and may require temporary restrictions to access driveways, sidewalks, and individual properties as work progresses. The contractor will make reasonable efforts to maintain access to residences and businesses whenever possible. When temporary access restrictions are necessary, affected property owners and residents will be provided advance notice whenever practicable.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather, site conditions, material availability, and other factors. We encourage residents to use caution around construction areas and to follow all posted traffic and access restrictions.

We understand that construction can be an inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation while these improvements are being completed. The City believes these improvements will provide significant long-term benefits to the neighborhood and the Nebraska City community.
